For five years, Mathieu Rossignol travelled all over the world in order to meet the 49 protagonists portrayed in this photographic volume, which offers their testimonials of encounters with the great Master of Japanese tattooing.

Portrayed are some of the prominent tattooists who have come across Master Horiyoshi III during the course of their careers. Together with his closest friends, like the great master Hatsumi Masaaki (the founder of the martial art Bujinkan), masters Hadjime Sorayama, Zaya, Ryuji Kazamatsuri (who shared the exhibition Korouten with Horiyoshi III), Alex Atala, who is one of the best chefs in the world, a variety of film producers, etc…for a total of 49 people in all. Each one exceptional.
