100 DRAGONS by Filip Leu
100 Dragons by Filip Leu is a new and important chapter in the exploration of one of tattoo’s most iconic and enduring subjects, featuring 100 dragons created by Filip Leu throughout 2025. Unlike the previous volumes, this book unveils a reverse creative process: each dragon begins as a fully realized colour illustration, developed with great depth, power, and dynamic energy. Then Filip Leu transforms it into clean, perfectly executed linework, specifically designed to be tattooed on skin. In total, the book presents 200 artworks: 100 full-colour dragons and 100 corresponding black-and-white line drawings.

Description
100 DRAGONS BY FILIP LEU
The book is organized in dual-page spreads: on one side, the complete colour drawing; on the facing page, its linear translation. These aren’t simplified sketches—they’re exercises in pure synthesis, where the line becomes the absolute tool of tattoo design. Movement, rhythm, and volume remain intact; only the superfluous disappears, revealing the pure structure of tattoo design.
This third Dragons volume completes the trilogy that began with Dragons Vol. 1 and Dragons Vol. 2, both published by Tattoo Life and quickly established as essential references. While the first books celebrated the complexity and power of dragon imagery, this final chapter reveals the internal mechanism—showing how a complete illustration becomes a clean design, ready for the skin.
Created for tattoo artists, illustrators, and collectors alike, 100 Dragons by Filip Leu is also for anyone who wants to understand how a great tattoo is created—from color to line. It’s simultaneously an archive, a study tool, and the work of a master who continues to profoundly influence the language of contemporary tattooing.
SHIBUYA HORIKEN
This is the first book ever published dedicated to his work. In these 200 pages he chose to collect and present his most significant works from the last ten years, including sketches and preparatory drafts that offer an exclusive insight into his creative process. His work is presented in double-page spreads that feature the same subject in outline form alongside its final colour version. This layout highlights the precision of his linework and the symbolic depth of his creations, which emerge in all their power.
His designs are vibrant tales that blend mythology with classical Japanese backgrounds: air, water, and rock, which Horiken flattens and stylizes in a graphic manner, presenting a contemporary version of his style. The recurring themes draw heavily from classical Japanese iconography: ancient samurai warriors, koi carp symbolizing resilience and transformation, mythological figures like Oni (demons), and protective deities.
It is a tribute to tradition, an opportunity to understand the artistic journey of one of the most talented interpreters of contemporary Irezumi.
