“Traditional Icons by Rich Hardy” is a research tool on two fronts: on the one hand we go back to the roots of everything that is Traditional today. On the other, it is a collection of pieces by Rich Hardy, a fundamental point of reference for this style for many tattoo lovers, collectors and tattooists. Among the hundreds of tattoos collected and drawn by Rich Hardy, it is interesting to encounter some of the characters which recur so frequently in Traditional tattoo, all the classic icons which Hardy tells us about, documenting their roots and representing them in his own work: as for instance, the well-known image of Battle Royale, or the Rock of Ages and Pharaoh’s Horses.
